Love Tacos and Piano Music
I'm about to admit to you my "weakness" and perhaps you have the same appetite for tacos as I do. It's bad. When my wife asks what I would like to eat, the majority of the time I would say tacos. I love tacos, burritos, taco burgers, sancho's and chips and salsa. Tex Mex is my weakness. Hopefully I haven't made you hunger. Yet I also love piano music and in the last couple years I found a fun song called Taco Dance by Jennifer Linn from Hal Leonard. I've taught the song a few

Another 10 year Celebration
Just wanted to take a moment to share that at the end of the month of March, I started working 10 years ago with takeLessons.com. They are a company in San Diego, California that finds teachers who can work for them and they provide students for teachers based on teachers expertise. Most of the lessons are music, yet they provide other arts, humanities, sign language, dance, tutoring students with school work and many other topics. The partnership has been incredible, working

Promise of Spring
Just recently came across a fun piano song about the beginning of Spring and since Spring started on Saturday, we are hoping that it comes quickly. This beautiful song Called Promise of Spring written by Ryan Chesser from Piano Pronto has a gorgeous melody that will make you feel more relaxed. The piano solo has version A and B on the website, which makes it fun if you only have a few minutes to play Version A or a bit longer and play B. Either way you will not be disappointe

Frozen Heart Virtual Choir
Since late January our voice, piano and acting students have been learning the song Frozen Heart from Frozen. We obtained the video this weekend and in honor of the second day of Spring, wanted to take a moment to share the first virtual choir. I'm very proud of everyone's hard work and effort trying something out of our "comfort zone", yet I'm pleased. Will admit we're not perfect, yet we're professionals and I'm so proud of the students willingness to try something new. Hop

One Week Today Until Online Oz Event
Today we had our last rehearsal as we prepare for Friday, March 26th @ 2pm. We're so excited to share what the students have been working on. If you are interested being a part of the free online event, please contact me @ (316) 992-3467 or email me @ andrew.young@mail.com. Thanks for your support. Blessings

Aladdin and the Magic Pickle Script
The past months the acting students have been working very hard on a royalty free script called Aladdin and the Magic Pickle. The script is from 12 Fabulously Funny Folktale Plays by Justin McCoy Martin. The story is loosely based on Aladdin receiving three wishes, yet this Aladdin is a little boy who starts his adventure looking for a snack in the refrigerator. He finds a jar of "Mister Giggles Brand Magic Pickles". When he takes a bite of the pickle, a Pixie appears to gran

Spider Man Far From Home Theme
I'm willing to admit that I haven't seen Far From Home or any of the new Spider Man movies. Know and seen that Spider Man is in the Avenger movies, which I enjoy. Hopefully I can see the new Spider Man movies soon. In the meantime, I've had a few students share that they wanted to learn how to play the theme song. Did get an easy arrangement and a parent bought on an original on Musicnotes.com. I've been working on the original when I can and hopefully will have a video at so

St Patrick's Day Piano and Acting Game Ideas
Starting last week, this week and next the students have been doing some fun St Patrick's Day games and wanted to share two ideas that I think might help. The first is called Shamrock Notes, from Susan Paradis's website. The game is actually one that is played a lot throughout the year, not just on St Patrick's Day. The colorful Grand Staff game board shows that the game is tons of fun. Her goal is to help students learning notes on the staff with Skittles. Yes you heard me r

Virtual Wizard of Oz Event
The studio is preparing for a free online theater event on March 26th @ 2 pm ( that should be about 40 minutes long) and we want to invite you to our production of the Wizard of Oz, adapted by Stephen Hotchner. The students have been working diligently for this upcoming play. What we need of course is an audience,(since it has many moments of participation) where we will use some type of virtual room for the event. (I'm working this detail out, as I use zoom for the limited f

Never Thought Mary Had a Little Lamb Sounded Like This
Last week and a part of this week I attended Topmusic.com webinar that totally changed my ideas of playing basic songs. What I'm sharing is based Tim Topham, an amazing piano teacher in Australia who is filled with incredible inspirational ideas to encourage students to want to play piano and ways to help teachers succeed. Especially focusing on teaching without using books, which I do. Yet this webinar really opened an idea that sounds basic, while getting the students hooke
