Last Tuesday, August 25th. 2026, the world mourned the loss of an incredible artist and human, Dolly Parton. The world is still in shock by her passing, learning of her cancer battle. Though I'm saddened by this news, Dolly Parton brought so much hope in a dark world and we can too.
Her first film was Nine to Five, where she was able to write the theme song that to this day still rings true. The necessity for equality for all people. We are all created equal, so let's treat others as equals. She wrote parts of the song at a time using her acrylic nails for the rhythm, even singing on the first day on the set to Jane Fonda and Lilly Tomlin personally, and they both acknowledged this movie was going to be a hit.
I wanted to share my vocal, piano version of the song and I hope it brings you joy throughout your day. What an incredible song to sing and even dance too. I did a choreography video some years ago for a Spring Break Dancing Through the Decades Camp. Hope you enjoy these both.
Dolly Parton was one of the people I wanted to accompany for and I had shared a few times on FaceBook hoping for a chance. She will be missed, yet grateful for her light, kindness, sarcasm, love for all people. She was a one of a kind. Dolly, we will see you one day. She has so many songs; yet which ones are your favorites? Would like to know. Thanks for your support. blessings.
