Two Jingle Bell Versions
Within the last few years I learned that that song Jingle Bells by James Pierpont was actually a Thanksgiving Song, yet became a part of Christmas. Over the years the song has been used in various genres of music, yet wanted to take a moment to share two options that are fun to play. Jumpin' Jingle Bells arrangement by Jennifer Linn is an Early Intermediate Piano solo that is fun to play and even perform. Linn uses staccatos and legatos throughout the song, which make it boun

Christmas Lead Sheets
This Christmas season I've been working with students on Christmas Lead Sheets, which are really fun to teach how to read a melody in the Treble Clef and add or play suggested chord inversions. Two of the ideas are from myfunpianostudio.com, by Kristin. She created these ideas of Away in the Manger and Silent Night. She uses these activities for ear training, yet I help the students identify chord inversions for these songs. Lead Sheets may not be utilized much, yet it's a gr

Lion King Jr Starts Tonight
This weekend is the big music theater production at Brooks Middle School and I've been blessed to work with amazing teachers and students who are making this show such a success. I'm accompanying the students with the main vocal songs and then tracks for the rest. I'm excited and nervous at the same time, since it's been over five years ago that I played for such a large production. I've been working on the music since late August and now here we are the first performances t

Musician's Growth Quote
As a teacher I've been blessed to hear students wanting to learn to play a song that "bigger than themselves" (a phrase I like to say). Of course every teacher has heard the opposite more: that's too hard, difficult, challenging, I can't play this. If you know anything about me as a teacher, I don't "baby" people. I meet them where they are at and "nudge and push" them in a good way. Yet the truth is as a musician, I have to find ways for more "growth" as a pianist. Over the

Happy Veterans Day
Thanks to every past and present Veteran who sacrificed, served and supported our country. We are eternally grateful. Hope you enjoy this piano arrangement.

Playing at Botanica for Illumination
Over a month ago I started working on Christmas music for one of my favorite performances opportunities at our local Botanical Garden. This is a great time for people to see lights covering the Gardens, plus live music helps make the season sound and feel so amazing. This has been a highlight to play piano here during Christmas for several years, sharing music for the community. If you happen to be available either of these nights I play or anytime during the Thanksgiving Ho
