Is Failure the Best Teacher?

Yes. Here's why I'm sharing these story. LOL.

Yesterday while teaching a newer voice student, I was going to focus on their breathing by having them lay down on the floor and I was going to put some light piano books on the students stomach to focus on getting the student to breath better with their diaphram. After the student laid down, the mom said that the student doesn't do well with this exercise laying down, even though the student has done yoga before. So I had to make an adjustment quickly. The student didn't feel "comfortable enough" to tell me that lying on the floor would cause more anxiety.

At the school I accompany for, the teacher had to briefly leave and left me and the sub in charge with a small class of 7th Graders. I think I did ok, yet wonder if I could have done better. Did I keep the students engaged with the upcoming Christmas music?

Then just a bit ago I had a bit of an understanding from a 3rd Grade vocal student. I thought the child was being disrespectful, yet the mom interjected and I was able to understand what the child wanted to say, yet didn't want to hurt my feelings.

I failed, yet I need to get back up and try better next time. Do not allow my emotions to overtake me, yet need to focus on how to do better. If I fail, learn from the lessons. I'm still learning.

What are you doing that you fail, yet you get back up again? Would like to know. Thanks for your support. Blessings.
