For Children by Bela Bartok
This past year or so I've been trying to find new music to share with my piano students. After doing more research I came across For Children by Bartok, which I've been able to teach two of songs from the two volumes. The book I'm currently using is from KJOS edited by Keith Snell. I'm excited to share these songs with my piano students. Think they will enjoy these selections. Hopefully I can get more of his songs put on YouTube. Check out the videos of 1, 3 and 6. These shor

Mary's Rock and Roll
Just wanted to share a short song of Mary Had a Little Lamb, yet with '50's left hand boogie. While trying to prepare for an upcoming 50's and 60's event, the idea came to me for a student to play Mary Had a Little Lamb, yet add the parent play a fun boogie beat in the Bass Clef. Let me know what you think. This familiar song will make Mary sound "cool" and fun to teach and learn. What are you creating that's similar, yet different? May we always learn to try new things. Than

50's Choreography
Three weeks from today is the 50's and 60's camp, where students will be learning 2 medleys of various songs from these decades, plus the ladies will be learning how to sing Stop in the Name of Love and the guys will learn Stand by Me. On top of that they will learn choreography to Jail House Rock and I'll decide on another song soon. Wanted to take a moment to share about the 50's choreography and the YouTube with it. The past months I've researched options that would fit th

Preparing for Snow White Lite
This Thursday I'm trying something really crazy, yet hopefully it will work very well. Several months ago I came across a play called Snow White Lite, where they take the story of Snow White and do it in 20 minutes. The play is from Pioneer Drama in Englewood, Colorado. Jacob Dorn is the creator of this play, which is a hilarious perspective of the characters. Instead of having 7 dwarfs, Dorn uses five: Bossy, Silly, Meany, Jumpy and Snoozy. The characters present their title

Flag Day
In honor of Flag Day, here is Star Spangled Fantasy created by Catherine Rollin, from her book American Medley's and Variations. Rollin creates gorgeous variations to The Star Spangled Banner, from a gentle, reflective perspective to some fortes that will get your attention. Her use of dynamics and ritardando's make the song so pleasing to the ear. Plus she utilizes the entire piano, which are great for every pianist. Rollin, thanks for creating a variation which will help ot

Serious and Intense Monologues
A student of mine shared about an extremely serious monologue site, which contains ideas that are very intense. This site is designed for mature audiences with all types of concepts about relationships with people, good or bad. I found some that are providing an opportunity for the current students. Want to learn more from this site, as my acting students are interested in these types of stories, which can be bizarre, yet are often presented in the world. If you're looking fo

Encanto Choreography
In less than a week, Potentials Music will be having an Encanto music and dance camp. Those who attend will learn songs from the movie, plus learn some basic South American dances. Wanted to take a moment to share three videos with the choreography. This camp is something "big" that I'm doing, a bit beyond myself. Yet I'm taking a risk and willing to try some thing new. What are you trying this summer that's a bit beyond you? Would like to know. Thanks for your support. Bles
