Working on some Summer Camp ideas. Thinking of including two mini plays too. I'm not sure the ages, yet will decide very soon. Let me know if you might be interested.

We Don't Talk About Bruno Piano Arrangements
Encanto has been the most watched movie in our home recently. Our kids love the story and music. In fact my son is "begging" for an Encanto Summer Camp, where those who attend learn music from the show. The music created by Lin-Manuel Miranda, is amazing with the Colombian, South America styles. Of course the top song is "We Don't Talk About Bruno." This week I came across 2 arrangements on music notes, which is great for a beginner and early intermediate. The first one is fr

Teaching Lower and Higher Note Songs
The past two weeks, a student has been learning Bass Clef G, A and B (the first and third line and first space). The student is in Music for Little Mozarts book 4, which is showing the students more notes on the staff. So this week I created three short songs to help the student understand the notes well. Wanted to keep it simple with quarter notes, quarter rests and whole notes. Two of the examples are with lower G, A and B and the last one is A, B and C in the middle of the

Valentine's Day Piano Solo

Potentials Music Birthday
So humbled that Potentials Music is having a Birthday. I'm not sure the exact date, yet know it started in February. Again the word is humbled, not that my head is hung in shame or being stuck up. It's humility, gratitude and celebration. To everyone who has supported over the years through lessons, allowing me to play piano for community events, our music theater camps, working at the Parks and Rec and more. Thanks is just the beginning. We are so blessed to have your suppor

Olympic Practice Event
With the Opening Ceremonies last Friday, I had an idea of doing a Practice Challenge for our in person and online voice, piano and acting students. I divided the students based on age groups and whoever plays the piano, sings and acts the most from Monday February 7th-12th will win a prize. Working on the prize idea though. Here are some of the decorations in the studio. Everyone is really enjoying the extra decorations. The piano students are working on notes on the staff wi

Student Composing
Wanted to briefly share some of the composing students have been doing so far. I'm very proud of their hard work. Two of them created songs I wrote for this winter called Minor Winter. Check out the blog here: https://manage.wix.com/dashboard/a99df9b8-1f03-4651-a7ef-d7fa3bf0511d/blog/61e0ee20d87c69001663c4c1/edit Each of the students created ideas that were really be fun for them to play and possibly for your students. I'm so proud of them. Check the links under each song. Th
Easy 2 Chord Piano Songs
Over the years of teaching, one of my many favorite things about teaching piano is showing students how to play chords, even at the first lesson. Of course it depends on the student, yet once students start learning to play songs with chords, they will be hocked. I will say that I use chord charts from ultimateguitar.com. Here are three of my favorites I like to teach, using chord charts. There are others, yet these seem to get students excited and motivated. Before I go any
