Autumn Leaves Piano Solo
Fall/Autumn has started today. How exciting. Wanted to share an early Intermediate short piano solo by Ryan Chesser, from pianopronto.com. This lyrical selection is gorgeous in the key of C, filled with various dynamics, "flowing" with both hands around the keys (compared to Canon in D a bit to me), plus some "easy" walking bass. The cover to the song is serene, filled with fall colors. The B section incorporates a beautiful melody with various repetitions, around the piano.

The Monster Mash Choreography
Just wanted to share a real quick blog about the upcoming Halloween Music Workshop happening next month. One of the activities we'll be learning include choreography to the Monster Mash, performed by Bobby Pickett. Did plenty of research to make the dance moves based on the 1960's, using the Watusi, Twist, Frankenstein and monster dances moves and more. Hope you enjoy this energizing song and dance number. Also if you or you know of anyone who is interested in the workshop, l

Three New Fall Piano Games
Over the years I've collected a variety of games to help students fulfill their ultimate potential. Yet I'm excited to share three new games to use this Fall and Halloween time. The first one is from Julie Duda Music Studio: Musical Apple Matching Game. This product is free for a bit, yet will not be soon. This is the Facebook link, yet again not sure how long it's free. https://mailchi.mp/juliedudamusicstudio.com/apple-match-game-fall-freebie?fbclid=IwAR02HSxyEpogyWCm_-FAWgc

Halloween Piano Music
The past weeks have been looking over and making YouTube's of some Halloween songs that I haven't taught. Most of these selections are Early and Late Elementary. Two of the selections come from Alfred's Music Book 5 Finger Halloween Fun, created by Tom Gerou. The duets make the 5 finger melody sound full and fun. One of the songs is the Funeral March of the Marionette by Charles Gounod, made famous for The Alfred Hitchcock TV shows. The melody 3/4 includes many accidentals,

Harrowing Around the Corner
With Halloween coming up next month, one of my piano students decided to created a short Halloween song or could be played anytime throughout the year. The student requested to use his initials and I respect the decision. I'm so proud of him and what he created. The song is written in D Harmonic minor, which gives it a "creepy" feel. B. T. W. uses broken chords, playing one note and then two notes together in the Bass Clef. The melody is harrowing and he incorporates a short

The Music of the Night
This school year, the teacher I'm accompanying for is doing a Brooks on Broadway, which is right up my aisle. The students are learning selections from the Sound of Music, Lion King Jr (the school musical I'm playing for in November) and The Phantom of the Opera. Wanted to share a YouTube of the Music of the Night, by Andrew Lloyd Weber, Charles Hart and Richard Stilgoe. The music is based on the book Gaston Leroux from the early 1900's. Hope you enjoy the song. Thanks for yo
