Over the years of teaching voice piano and acting lessons, I've been blessed to help musicians, actors, and actresses at various levels. Yet this season, I've been blessed with several self-learners, who desire to achieve absolute proficiency. Some are perfectionists, while others are just trying new things, who are willing to make mistakes.
Drake came in today sharing a Taylor Swift song he taught himself to play and sing at the same. Which he has never done and he shared it with me. That's one of my favorite things, when a person can play an instrument and sing. Filled my cup today.
Ethan has been working on his personal composing, plus singing and play piano at the same time with music he loves. So much joy exudes from within me, when a student shares their poetry in lyrics. It blesses me.
Kamee-Lynn came in this week sharing a part of a jazz piece she taught herself. I was over the moon with delight and hopefully, I can find an arrangement that helps her sound amazing.
Olivia was so excited to sing the song When I'm Older from Frozen 2. Plus showed her Shallow from A Star is Born. She was elated, stating, "I know this song".
Samuel is preparing for an audition and we looked at a section that he believed would be the best option to showcase his voice.
I'm so blessed to help students develop their full potential, that I'm crying with gratitude. I'm so humbled and blessed to serve the community with music and theater. There are moments that I question if I'm doing the right thing or if I'm helping, yet it goes away. May we always let our students learn, become independent and to be a life-long student. That's always been my goal. Thanks for your support. Blessings.
