Students Want Full/Big-Sounding Music and Theater

Since I started teaching lessons over 15 years ago, I've always believed in trying things "bigger than" students and myself. I always feel overwhelmed in the best way when the students learn and demonstrate music and acting materials which they state: this music or theater material is too "hard", "difficult", "challenging". I call it "an opportunities", which they roll their eyes. LOL!!!

My piano students are learning music from Susan Staples Bell, Compose Create, Piano Pronto.

The Galactic Adventures Collection from Susan Staples Bell is filled with solos about taking a trip in space. Just started teaching Path of Destiny and my student is loving it today.

Castle Tales Volume 4 is perfect for Early Elementary to Elementary Piano students. My students are loving; Secrets of the Night, Jesters at Court, Enchanted Quest and For the King. These solos and duets take students on a journey in the life of a castle.

The Little Fuzzy's from Wendy Stevens through her business Composecreate.com has tons of fun music about Fuzzy's mischief and trouble they get others in. Plus they are traveling to various parts of the world with Pyramid Peril and Artful Acrobratics. My students are loving the Fuzzy's Music. Here's the link to the these two songs that are great to teach your students no matter what age.

Plus other Fuzzies Music links:

At pianopronto.com, Jennifer Eklund created a piano trio called "Ode to a Dark Star", based on a minor version of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. My students are loving this selection.

Plus this week my Uncle who is taking lessons and has been diligently learning portions of Fur Elise. Another voice and piano student taught herself how to play "Lost Girl" by Toby Fox and several measures of Moonlight Sonata. Almost a month ago another piano student taught himself how to play the first page of Waitingroom also by Toby Fox on his own. I was blown away in a good way.

They want to discover music that will stretch them as a musician, that has a full/big sounding pieces. What are you trying that is helping your students with an "opportunity"? Would like to know. Thanks for your support. Blessings.
