After a successful Halloween event, our students are learning and working on Christmas music. The theme will be a bit "Nutty", with a "cracker" in the word. Yes we are doing songs from the Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky. I will admit that I know some about the story, the ballet and a couple songs, yet in the past month, I've been immersing myself into the Nutcracker. What a story of heroes, villains, amazing music and ballet. At this point we don't have anyone to do the ballet, yet anything is possible.
Some of the music books were using are from Alfred Publishing, Piano Pronto and Piano Language. If you looking for some ideas, check out the pic of the 4 main books we're using. Most of the books we're using are early and late elementary levels. Plus I created a short version of The Dance of the Reed Flutes located in the Christmas section of piano music on the site. Check out the free example.
The song from Piano Pronto is called Sugar Plum Blues by Chrissy Ricker, which is a fun arrangement with lots of blues musical ideas. I'm so excited to help a student learn this song. Plus from Piano Language a student is learning Sugar Plum Fairy Rock arranged by Alexa Madison. She has also written early elementary piano arrangements of the Nutcracker that release next week. Really looking forward to checking out how she composed these amazing songs.
Plus our acting students are doing a couple scenes from a free play of the Nutcracker. The Mouse King and the Nutcracker get a chance to fight online. Really excited about the opportunity for all of our students. What are you doing this Christmas season? Would like to know. Thanks for your support. Blessings
