Always Teach "Bigger Than Yourself"

Today I heard about this Pianist Emile who shared a concept that I've implemented since I first started teaching voice, piano and acting lessons over 15 years ago: play music above your level. My students learn and love that, even though it's an "opportunity" of growth for the students and myself. Elime also communicates about the importance of playing the parts the students and I are having "opportunities" with, focusing on small portions of the music. You might say the music and theater materials are: hard, difficult, challenging; yet I call it an opportunity. Yet always take it slow.
I'm continually trying to work on Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 for Piano, the 3rd movement of Moonlight Sonata, Chopin's Fantasie-Impromptu and other selections. I want to keep learning.
Try something new, even if it's slow.

What are you doing that's bigger than yourself? Would like to know. Thanks for your support. Blessings.
