You Will Always Matter

This phrase has been resonating with me lately and I just want everyone who reads this blog to know that they are significant, important, valid, and special. I don't want to sound like Mr. Rogers, yet this is the truth. Everyone has a story worth sharing and telling. Some people get microphones and the rest of us, when given a chance can share with others what we have gone through.

My pastor made this statement this week: The shortest distance between a person's heart and truth is a story. I've always believed that everyone's story matters. Stories reach our hearts and speak the truth. The past month has been a bit unusual, as several of my students have been dealing with serious mental health issues. Yet the biggest thing I've done is listen to what they have to say and make sure to tell them that I love them and I'm here for them.

I feel ill-equipped, yet I'm trying to navigate through what they are experiencing. Their story is going to be very important to someone who needs to hear what they have been through. Ask for opportunities to share your story. What have you been learning about mental health this year? Would like to know. Thanks for your support. Blessings.
