Several years ago Wendy Stevens from Composecreate.com wrote a later intermediate to early advanced Jazzy arrangement of We Three Kings, which I was able to share at the studio event last Saturday. I've had this song for a while, as one that I wanted to work on and finally had the time to accomplish it. Her arrangement contains various dynamics, crescendos and decrescendos, utilizing various parts of the piano, tempo and mood changes, playing both hands in the higher register of the piano. Plus she infuses Jazz in the song, one of my favorite ways to incorporate the genre into Christmas music. Included in the solo are arpeggios, open fifths in the Bass Clef, staccatos, legatos, a walking Bass Line, grace notes, accidentals, a Key Change from E Minor to D Minor. This selection is worth performing and teaching. You and your students will love this song. Here is the link and the YouTube I performed this week. Hope you enjoy the song and consider it as an option for your studio.
