Christmas Vocal Warm-Ups

I Started last week presenting vocal warm-ups for my voice students, using the beginning of famous Christmas songs. Everyone has been loving the idea. I utilized the first part of Deck the Halls with boughs of holly, Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, Mary Did You Know, Jingle Bells jingle bells jingle all the way, Joy to the World the Lord has come. My students are getting a spark of energy with the warm ups, as we modulate up or down using each of the key signature chords. Plus I'm using Christmas songs that most my students know.

With Joy to the World, Mary Did You Know or Deck the Halls, I'm able to focus on a whole or a part of an ascending or descending scale, which is a great exercise for vocalists. Mary Did You Know is in a minor key, which is awesome for ear training purposes. Jingle Bells contains similar notes that are close together. Frosty and Rudolf are great for intervals, where I get a chance to explain about the various sounds that move up or down from the intervals or distances from different notes.

What is something you're doing that's different this Christmas with your vocal students? Would like to know? Thanks for your support. Blessings.
